    • Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan wrote a sarcastic letter of apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio criticizing the power dynamics and gender discrimination of the Nigerian legislature.

    • In the letter, Natasha laughed at her expectations for compliance, emphasized the issue of rights, and questioned that legislative success was gained through merits rather than personal pampering.

The suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan wrote a sarcastic letter of apologies to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, re-inciting debate on gender and power dynamics in the Nigerian legislative chamber.

In the letter, Natasha sarcastically expresses “the deepest irony and the greatest dramatic regret” to maintain Akpabio’s dignity and self-esteem.

“I am unforgivable for my unforgivable failure to realize that legislative success in some respects is clearly not through merits but through ancient and very personal ancient art,” Natasha wrote. She added, “I don’t know how regretful I refuse to indulge your ‘please’, which is not only a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the rights of some men.”

Natasha’s letter is a harsh criticism of the power dynamics that play a role, asserting her opposition to systemic misogyny and political intimidation. “Please find it in your broad heart – buried somewhere deep in the layer of rights to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was obtained through elections rather than an erection.”

Tensions between Natasha and Akpabio were first revealed in July 2024, when Akpabio scolded her at a plenary meeting and said: “We are not in a nightclub.”

The comment sparked public outrage and demands for an apology. Natasha’s latest letters elicited a strong reaction, with some praising her courage while others criticizing her attitude.

She added: “I am still your eternal resistance, and Senator Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan is not afraid, no doubt and uninterrupted.”
