
Suspected as a member of the cult, the gunman attacked a popular bar around Akpehe, in the capital of Benus state.
Gathered, the gunmen violently attacked the bar around 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 and opened fire at customers.
Several other people were reportedly injured in the attack, which was said to last only a few minutes.
An eyewitness who claimed he was escaped by whiskers said he heard sporadic gunfire around 8 p.m. when some young people suspected that cult members had invaded a bar in Akpehe.
“I saw people running on propellers, but no one could say something that might have told the gunman to invade the bar,” the witness said.
According to the collection, security agents later moved to the area and blocked the scene.
One of the victims was identified as Gabriel Terfa Gugur, who claimed to be “like a Kiddwaya celebrity”.
State Police Command spokesman Sewuese Catherine confirmed Monday that the incident revealed that four people were killed in the attack, while others are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
PPRO added that the investigation has begun.
