The incident occurred around 7:36 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, when the attackers rushed into the residence of the district head and drove away two women.
A resident of the community told the publication that residents immediately mobilized to rescue the kidnapped victims.
“But when we followed them into the jungle to try to rescue the kidnapped, the gunmen opened fire at us. Sadly, they shot and killed one of our members, Umar Abdullahi, and injured another Suleiman, who is currently in hospital.”
He added that according to Islamic rituals, the deceased had been buried.
He called on governments and security agencies to strengthen efforts to ensure the release of wives and daughters of kidnapped traditional rulers and to ensure the safety of the community.
