One of the alleged promoters of the cryptocurrency trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), Adefowora Abiodun, has voluntarily turned to the Commission on Economic and Financial Crime (EFCC).
Accompanied by his lawyer, Abiodun handed over himself at EFCC headquarters on Monday, April 28 at 4pm and expressed his willingness to work with investigators.
The EFCC announced last week that seven other people wanted for suspected involvement in fraudulent investment plans worth more than $1 billion. Judge Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court of Abuja has approved the EFCC application to arrest and detain suspected CBEX promoters, pending investigation and possible prosecution.
Judge Nwite said when approving the application;
“I have heard from the applicant’s learned lawyer (EFCC). I have also experienced affidavit evidence and exhibitions as well as written address. I am satisfied that I have made contributions to the application and pray for it.”
Attorney Babatunde Busari (Esq.) said Abiodun decided to obey his investigation to clear his name and correct the narrative in the media.
