The U.S. government agency has announced a date for release of the Tinubu investigation report.
Nigeria News NalinThe report said that U.S. government agencies are expected to release an investigation report on Friday, May 2, 2025 in connection with alleged drug-related cases involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in line with a U.S. District Court order.
The institutions involved include FBIthis Internal Revenue Service (IRS)this Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)this State Council,,,,, American lawyerand Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The command originates from Judge Beryl Howell’s ruling The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by U.S. citizen Aaron Greenspan in June 2023 was filed in the District Court of the District of Columbia in June 2023.
The judge ordered all relevant agencies (except the CIA) to jointly submit identity reports and release relevant documents by May 2.
Judge Howell dismissed the agencies’ arguments regarding the information retention in April, noting that doing so was “neither logical nor reasonable.”
FOIA Suit Target Drug Circle Investigation in the 1990s
The lawsuit seeks to release documents related to the alleged federal investigation into President Tinob and allegedly related to drug trafficking networks.
Greenspan filed 12 FOIA requests to six different U.S. agencies between 2022 and 2023 for records on Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lee Andrew Edwards, Mueez Abegboyega Akande and Abiodun Agbele.
The agencies mentioned in the lawsuit include the FBI, the IRS, the DEA and U.S. attorneys’ offices in the northern Indiana area.
The presidency dismisses the recycling of the case
In response to the court lawsuit, the President of Nigeria assured that the content sought in the document was not new and did not involve any misconduct by President Tinob.
Legal analysts also told the Daily Trust that the court orders are still subject to possible appeals from the authorities concerned.
