Akwa IBOM Governor Umo Eno has moved to Dump PDP.

Nigeria News NalinAkwaibom Governor Umo Eno, after publicly questioning the feasibility of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has sparked speculation about a potential political restructuring platform for his political aspirations beyond 2027.

Speaking at a constituency promotion conference held in Uukanafun local government district Ikot Akpankuk on Tuesday, likening the PDP to a faulty plane, suggesting that he might consider boarding a “different plane” to his political destination – an analogy, many interpreting the tips of defectors as all progressive congresses (APC).

“If you want to travel with IBOM Airlines and on the edge of takeoff it will create a failure that won’t make it fly, will you board the next available aircraft to take you to your destination?” Eno asked, addressing the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency at the Town Square meeting.

His remarks have grown aggravated due to growing concerns about disunity and instability within the PDP, which has intensified recent deficits, including the defection of the APC by Delta Governor Sheriff Oberevwori.

Despite concerns about the direction of the PDP, Governor Eno called on his supporters to continue to work on his administration’s goals and stressed that service delivery remains his top priority.

As part of the participation, the governor assigned authorization packages to more than 400 voters. Distribution includes trader and farmer grants, substantial MSME funding and equipment support.

Specifically, 154 traders received grants, 116 farmers received support, 4 received N5 million for business development, and 131 benefited from equipment support.

In his speech, Governor Eno urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly and informed the investment in Ponzi schemes or other non-productive enterprises.

“We need to meet people from time to time. Governance doesn’t end in elections,” he said. “We are here to listen, evaluate your needs and let you know what we do and what we intend to do.”

ENO also revealed that so far, the government has covered four of the state’s 10 federal constituencies in this competition and promised that all of them will be completed in time to incorporate their needs into the 2026 budget.

“We will review your requirements and prioritize them based on available resources. Things we cannot do now will be considered in future budgets,” he added. “This government belongs to the people – it is for you, you and you.”

Governor Eno has not officially announced any party changes, but his comments reinforce political discussions about the evolving dynamics of Akwa Ibom and the national opposition landscape.
