Son destroys unqualified tires, steel doors, and billions of wires

The standard organization in Nigeria (son) destroyed imported unqualified tires, steel doors and spark plugs, which were intercepted when entering the country.

These items are worth billions of naira and are considered unsuitable for use.

Officials from Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, importers, trade associations and law enforcement partners participated in the sabotage event held yesterday in Lagos.

Son and CEO Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke said at the event that unqualified products pose a major threat to public and national security.

Okeke was represented by his Special Assistant for Strategic Support, Manji Pious Lawan, who noted that the items were seized by his son’s law enforcement team in partnership with other agencies because they failed to meet the minimum safety and quality standards required in Nigeria. He added that the materials pose serious risks to life, property and the economic stability of the country.

Okeke revealed that several suspects have been arrested and prosecuted, and some cases are still being tried in court. He described the exercise as an important step in the agency’s ongoing efforts to get rid of the Nigerian market and has taken action to protect consumers.

“Unqualified tires can cause devastating accidents on our roads, unsafe steel doors damage the safety of our homes and businesses, and faulty spark plugs can cause engine failure. Today we are doing more than symbolic; it’s a practical testament to son’s determination to protect Nigerian life and ensure consumers are safe,” he stated. ”

Okeke stressed that the action is consistent with the mandate provided by the SON SON ACT of 2015, which authorizes the agency to implement quality standards and remove hazardous products from issuance.

He promised that his son would not be relentless in his efforts and promised to continue to identify, seize and destroy unqualified products while being responsible for the products.

Okeke warns manufacturers, importers and merchants that non-compliance with Nigerian quality standards is not tolerated.
