Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the minimum wage for civil servants in the state.

Naija News The governor revealed this while revealing a series of overhaul reforms aimed at enhancing civil servants, effectively managing pensions and promoting ongoing professional development of employees.

The announcement comes Thursday (today) at Kano’s May Day celebrations held in the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Governor Yusuf stressed that May 1 is more than just a public holiday. It represents a day of sacrifice and a ruthless pursuit of justice, fairness and dignity of labor.

He respected Kano’s historical significance and pointed out that the state was the first official event to host Mayday events in 1980 under the late Governor Abubakar Rimi.

He is committed to maintaining this legacy through policies aimed at improving workers’ welfare.

In a notable development, Governor Yusuf revealed that the state government has approved a new minimum wage of 71,000 for civil servants, positioning Kano as a pioneering state to implement such an increase.

“Through intentional and firm efforts, we ensure that the new minimum wage in Kano State is now 71,000. This step is crucial to boost morale, reduce economic hardship and increase productivity.” Governor Yousuf pointed out.

The governor highlighted his administration’s vision and outlined several key initiatives aimed at modernizing civil servants.

These include regular training, workshops and partnerships with institutions such as the Institute of Administrative Staff of Nigeria (ASCON).

“These efforts are part of our broader strategy to modernize administrative processes and ensure that civil servants have the skills they need to meet contemporary governance needs,” he said. Governor Kano explained.

Additionally, the governor revealed that his administration is currently evaluating basic operating documents, including civil servant rules, financial instructions and service plans to ensure they comply with best practices.

Governor Yusuf stressed that these reforms aim to increase productivity, cultivate discipline and improve service delivery within government departments and institutions.

He also emphasized the critical nature of pension reform and advocated timely and fair payments to retirees.

He said:Pension reforms go beyond the government; it is a moral obligation for those who serve the country gloriously. ”

The governor reiterated his dedication to transparency, professionalism and the well-being of civil servants and pensioners, which he believes is crucial to the effective functioning of government actions.

He urged all stakeholders to cooperate to promote the successful implementation of these reforms.
