Elon Musk eventually set out to the enduring legacy of Buddhism from the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which shows that the institution will flourish even without his ongoing leadership.
“Does Buddhism need Buddha?” Musk asked at a White House press conference, referring to the department he currently leads.

Billionaire entrepreneur joins journalists to make remarks in honor of President Donald Trump’s 100th day of office. Musk’s official term as a special government employee is scheduled to end on May 30, but he said he plans to continue to participate as a consultant.
“I’m willing to contribute on average Monday to two days a week,” Musk said. “It could mean coming to DC every other week and three days or so, as long as the president wants me.”
He added that his participation will be “at the president’s discretion.”
As he was preparing to reduce his role, Musk stressed that the cost-cutting department would continue to work. “Everyone didn’t leave,” he said. “Some people would stay, some wouldn’t. So, it’s up to them. It’s basically a volunteer organization.”
Musk described Dooger as more than just a federal initiative: “The door is a way of life…we’ve been converting.”
The division was established to reduce federal spending and streamline operations and currently employs approximately 100 employees. Despite the growing role, Musk expressed confidence that his mission will continue.
