Senior film producer Lancelot Imasuen has gathered top Nollywood stars such as Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Jim Iyke and Emeka Ike because they “turned their support and made them famous.”
Lancelot commemorates his 30 years in Nollywood, criticizing the gap between the “old” and “new” Nollywood and questioning why many industry celebrities have disappeared instead of giving back.
He said in an interview with Pioneer.
“As of 30 years ago, nothing was more like a big star. Everyone has evolved. Those who choose to be behind the camera like me and those who want to be in front of the camera.
“No one looks down on anyone. Everyone respects everything we ask for.” But, working overtime, we have seen the birth of great names in Nollywood, even those who are no one, are ignored, abandoned and ignored by those who are no one.
“This is the crux of this guy.
“I’m shouting out Omotolas, Genevieve’s, Emeka Ikes and Jim Iykes. I’m also calling on everyone who benefits from Nollywood, who give back to the industry.
Lancelot urged the stars to return and support Nollywood, insisting that the industry needs its own survival and prosperity.
