Lagos government seizes more than 200 unethical vehicles

Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Agency (VIS) aims to improve road safety in recent law enforcement actions.

Vis, director of Akin-George Fashola, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, May 4, and signed by Bolanle Ogunlola’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs, the Lagos State Department of Transportation.

Fashola, who led the operation, explained that the initiative was necessary to curb road accidents caused by non-commissioned vehicles, especially within the commercial transport sector.

“As commonly thought, the operation is not limited to private vehicles, but extends to all categories of vehicles that contribute to the state’s transportation ecosystem,” he said.

He stressed that law enforcement targets a wide variety of vehicles, including commercial minibuses such as Danfos and Korope vehicles.

He added: “All owners, especially those who intend to use their vehicles for commercial purposes, urge to ensure they meet the required road standards.”

“Before commercializing your vehicle, make sure it fits the road. You can even take it to any of our attachment offices for proper inspection before operating.”

Fashola assured residents that VIS will continue its law enforcement campaign to ensure safer roads and more efficient transportation systems in Lagos.
