Kevin Garnett and his girlfriend Teare Candelier were caught up in a family dispute at their home in the Los Angeles area in the second half of last month, prompting 911 calls.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that the candidate called 911 at around 2 a.m. on April 27 to report the dispute. When the officers arrived, Garnett had left the scene, although they still accepted the report. The candidate refused medical assistance after being questioned by officials.
Sources familiar with this incident show that when Garnett tried to digest the situation, the argument broke out when he left the door. However, both sides clarified that the situation never escalated to physical violence.
On Sunday, May 5, Garnett and Candelier issued a joint statement on regrets involving law enforcement. “We deeply regret that individual differences escalate and inappropriately involve the authorities,” they said. “Our intention is by no means to involve others at a moment when they should have been private.” The couple further noted that despite occasional disagreements, their commitment to each other remains strong and that they are moving forward with new respect, understanding and love.
Garnett is a 15-game match between the NBA All-Star and four-time All-NBA first-team, widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He ventured into the media since his retirement, and recently hosted his podcast “KG: Certification.”
