Jacob Nnabuike UGWU has been arrested for supplying methylmethamphetamine (MDMA) drugs in India.
The Madhya Pradesh Indore Crime Department announced the arrest in a statement on Monday, May 5, 2025.
UGWU was arrested from Krishna Puri of Delhi, who has lived in his mind and body as a refreshment shop for the past two to three years.
“Accused Nigerian Jacob Nnabuike UGWU (37) followed an earlier seizure of about 36 grams of MD drugs, a Tata Altroz car and two other accused cell phones, charged with Hariom Jha (26) and Lakshya Singh Rajput (26) and Lakshya Singh Rajput (26) and Lakshya Singh Rajput (26)
He added that Nigerian defendants are believed to be planning drug trafficking nationwide through their colleagues’ network.
He said: “The defendant is a native of Nigeria and was originally from Enugu City. He admitted to living in Delhi for the past 2-3 years, running a refreshment shop and providing MD drugs through other members of his gang over the past year.”
Earlier, the Indore Crime Department team received reliable information that JHA and Rajput were involved in MD drugs near the MR10 bridge in Tata Altroz cars. Catched about 36 grams of illegal MD drugs from its possession, Tata Altroz cars, cell phones, etc.
Under the case of a crime number of 81/25 under Article 81/25 of the NDPS Act, the defendant was registered at the Crime Branch Police Department.
He said during police remand, the defendants revealed that they had trafficked MD drugs from Jacob, a Nigerian supplier in Delhi.
Indore police have booked all three defendants under Sections 8 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Spiritual Substances (NDPS) Act.
Nigerian nationals have been remanded by police to further interrogate their network and other accomplices.
Rajesh added that other arrests may be possible as the investigation expands to the larger network of suppliers and hawkers associated with the defendants.
The Indore Crime Department is coordinating with Delhi police and central agencies to track the source of narcotics and financial trails behind illegal operations.
