His club team announced on Thursday, May 8 that he was a professional rugby player who won an Olympic medal in Fiji at the Paris Olympics last summer, and he died.
Josaia Raisuqe, 30, was in a car accident and his French rugby league club, announced on social media that he remembered him as “a great teammate” and that he was “loved by everyone”.
The BBC reported that Raisuqe’s car crashed on a train near his club team training center. He is 30 years old.
“The Constellation is mourning,” Raisuqe’s French club team wrote on Instagram. “It is in the heavy heart that we learned about the death of our player Josaia Raisuqe in a road accident.”
The club team continued: “The entire CO family is shocked by this terrible news. Josh has been a member of the club since 2021. He is an excellent teammate and loved by everyone, including embracing his castres supporters. We have sincere condolences and thoughts to his family and loved ones.”
Rugby teams from around the world responded to the announcement of the Casters Olympics about Resuk’s death, including several rugby teams in the French League.

The Associated Press reported that since 2015, Raisuqe has been playing in the French Rugby League, for Stade Francais, Nevers and later Castres Olympique.
