
A police inspector Christian Gbaratee was ked by a gunman who ambushed a group of police officers on Port Harcourt-Aba Harba Harcourt Road.
A counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this through his X handle on Thursday, May 8.
Makama quoted police sources as saying the incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, while officers were returning from a trip to Rivers.
He also revealed that during the ambush, armed attackers (five) were wearing combat costumes.

He wrote: “A group of officers, including ASP Victor Eze and inspector Nwanochi Ndubuisi, are returning from Harcourt Harcourt Harcourt Harcourt at Rivers State when they were intercepted by five armed attackers in combat costumes. The attack took place on the narrow road along Harcourt-Aba Road on Harcourt-Aba Road.
“During the confrontation, inspector Christian Gbaratee was shot dead and inspector Ekoro Isong disappeared. During the attack, the gun was stolen from Gbaratee and the detained suspect was taken away by the attackers.”
He further revealed that the police’s quick response led to the recovery of Toyota Corolla and other items, including ammunition spent, a laptop and three travel bags.
“In addition, inspector Isong was not injured later. The body of the late inspector Gbaratee has been stored in the European Union’s medical center Mortuary for autopsy.
“A search operation in cooperation with military personnel is underway to track attackers and recover stolen guns,” he wrote.
