The Vatican announced that the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected chief of the Roman Catholic Church, will be held on Sunday, May 18 in St. Peter’s Square.
World leaders are expected to gather for the event and will be elected the first US to the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics in Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost.
The Vatican said the new pope will meet with reporters on Monday, while diplomats will gain recognition from the Roman Catholic Church the following Friday.
Pope Leo’s first regular audience will meet with top Vatican officials on Wednesday, May 21.
