Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season before before the Real Madrid switch.
Alonso has long been back with Santiago Bernabeu’s return at the end of the season, and Ancelotti is under increasing pressure after a disappointing campaign with Los Blancos.
The Spanish manager led Leverkusen to an unbeaten domestic doubles last season, losing only one game in the all-round match, the Europa League final.
But before Sunday’s last home game of the season, Alonso now announced that he would leave the club, with many reports indicating he left Real Madrid.
“This week, the club and I agree that this will be my last two games as coach Leverkusen,” Alonso announced Friday.
“This is the right time to announce it, as we have been in good communication with the club.
“We have to enjoy this moment with a mixed race mood, which is emotional! I talk to the players and staff and it wasn’t easy.
“We have a good connection, and that’s the key. They believe me, they follow me.
“I think there’s a proper goodbye this weekend.”
As manager of Leverkusen, Alonso is responsible for 138 games, with 88 of which winning impressive win rates.
In addition to being selected as the Bundesliga coach this season last year, Espanyol was also crowned as “Coach of the Year” by Globe Soccer in 2024.
