Is it the biggest political crime to join another party after winning the election? Kwankwaso

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and presidential candidate for the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), strongly criticized politicians who abandoned the party after benefiting from the support of ordinary citizens, describing such defection as the greatest political betrayal.

Kwankwaso spoke at Kano on his Miller Road Residence while receiving a group of defectors from the Takai local government area of Kano South, Kenwaso lamented the actions of politicians who, after gaining public trust, converted loyalty to rivals.

“We all know the history of this movement. Unfortunately, in 2015, some people joined us with dishonest intentions. They brought disunity and tried to destabilize the movement. But thank God, this movement has not derailed.”

His comments come after the recent departure of major NNPP members, including Senators Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum to All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that many are seen as a political reorganization in future elections.

Kwankwaso described past elections as moments of learning. “When the 2019 elections came, everyone saw what was going on, and the recent elections taught us valuable lessons,” he said.

“The sport is for people. It’s an action, and people with the right mind should reflect deeply. It’s not about money. Even what’s going on in the south of Cano should be a lesson. Some people gather spaghetti and n2,000 n2,000 to elect someone. But in Cano, in Cano, poor standing firm company.

He condemned politicians who, after public support, gave up the platform that put them in power. “This is the highest form of betrayal in a democratic environment. I don’t know that it’s more a political crime than the disadvantaged vote for you, rejecting cheaters and progressive enemies, you turn around and join the same enemy after you win. If people knew, they wouldn’t vote for you,” Kwankwaso said.
