    Army Investigation accuses soldiers of attacking female food suppliers in Benue

    Nigerian troops have begun investigations that allegedly attacked a private Christopher Emmanuel, who was identified as a female food supplier in Dooshima, who was once a private government area in Kura, the western government area of ​​Gwer, Benue State.

    The incident occurred on May 6, 2025, but was officially reported on May 8, and was said to have been caused by disagreements over unpaid debts.

    The preliminary report said the confrontation escalated after soldiers claimed that the supplier insulted him during a phone conversation.

    Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 401 Special Forces, Makurdi, Captain Abdullah Raul Osabo, in a statement on ensuring the public, will serve the justice and reaffirm his zero tolerance for human rights violations.

    He added that Emanuel Private is currently ahead of the findings.

    “The Headquarters Operations Rotary Stroke (OPWS) has recognized the incident involving private Christopher Emmanuel and a female supplier Doshima, which occurred on May 6, 2025 but was reported on May 8, 2025 in Kula, the local government area of ​​Gwer West, Benue State, Kunu state, on May 8, 2025.”

    “The incident may have been reportedly arising from a dispute over outstanding debts, allegations suggest that the soldier claimed the woman insulted him during a telephone conversation. Further, the confrontation may have escalated into a physical dispute and is now being thoroughly investigated.

    “Christopher Emmanuel is currently in custody and will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident. The Nigerian military has zero tolerance for human rights violations and will take disciplinary action based on the findings of the investigation.

    “The leadership of the Nigerian military assured the public and victims that justice will be consistent with the high standards of the military. OPWS strongly condemns any form of discipline or human rights abuse by its personnel.
