In the spinning speculation, former President Goodluck Jonathan was proposed by a powerful politician in order to return to Aso Rock in 2027, his wife and former first lady Dame Patience Jonathan firmly ruled out any comeback ambitions, either themselves or strongly influenced.
Speaking at the awards ceremony in Abuja on Saturday night, May 9, Mrs. Jonathan announced her full support for First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and promised to run with her ahead of the 2027 election.
“I’m not running. I won’t go back to the villa. If you call me, I won’t go. Let my friend be there. Let me ‘wahala’ she’s in the way she’s been ‘wahala’ me!” she said! ”
The former First Lady’s rhetoric comes at a time when rumors prevail, with some political elements, especially in the north, being a potential alliance with Jonathan for the 2027 election.
Jonathan reiterated her belief in spinning leadership, stressing that the “turn” principle is crucial to national unity, a sentiment that seems to enhance her support for the ongoing tenure of the Tinubu government.
“I believe in a president. I believe in turning. It’s your turn, and I will support you. When it’s your turn, take a step back so that the country can move forward.”
She recalls her long-term relationship with Remi Tinubu, who dates back to their time as lieutenant governor and wife of the governor, adding that during the 2011 presidential election, Tinubus stood by her family.
“I can’t give up on my friends, whether you like it or not,” she said.
