The alleged vandals were electrocuted while trying to destroy the armored cables in the Secretariat complex in Duter State, Chigava State.
A spokesman for State Police Commander SP Shiisu Lawan Adam confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the lifeless body of the unidentified male was found under a flat plate containing armored cable wiring on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
“Today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, about 1,000 hours, the Jigava State Police Department received a call in distress from the Engineering Department involving the unfortunate incident in the new complex of the Jigava State Secretariat.”
“The police team led by departmental police in the Düssel Division responded to the call.
“After arriving at the scene, police found the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a flat panel equipped with armored cable wiring.
“Preliminary investigations show that the deceased was electrocuted while trying to destroy the armored cable connected to the high-voltage power supply.
“The body of the deceased has begun to decompose and has since been evacuated to Dussel General Hospital for physical examination.
“This incident highlights the serious risks associated with the destructive behavior of public infrastructure, especially electrical installations.
“The order strongly condemns the crime and warns the public against such dangerous and illegal activities.
“The Jigava State Police Department remains committed to protecting public property and ensuring the safety of life and infrastructure throughout the state. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities in their communities to the nearest police station.
