The Nasalawa State Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old woman suspected of trafficking in terrorists operating in turbulent areas of the state.
Police spokesman SP Ramhan Nansel revealed the development in Rafia on Thursday, May 15, saying the suspect was identified as Fatima Salisu in Funtua, Casina, and was arrested in the Azuba area of Rafia. She allegedly transported ammunition through Keana and Doma local government areas and planned to transport it to criminals in Katsina.
“Police Commissioner CP Shetima J. Mohammed took a reliable intelligence action and ordered the immediate deployment of the command’s anti-Kidnapping force,” Nansel said.
The operation led to the arrest of the suspect and restored 481 rounds of live ammunition – 400 rounds of bullets were 7.62x39mm and 81 NATO NATO ammunition.
Fatima is currently in police custody and interrogation as authorities intensify dismantling weapons trafficking networks and discovering ties with terrorism and gangsters in the region.
Police described arrests as a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on the proliferation of illegal weapons and violent crimes across the state.
The order urges the public to remain vigilant and continue to share reliable information with security agencies in a timely manner to aid ongoing security operations.
