Niger State Police Command arrests three false operators from the Economic and Financial Crime Commission for alleged kidnapping Two students from a cabin in Lapa Town.
The headquarters spokesman Sp wasiu Abiodun revealed this in a statement Thursday, May 15, 2025, saying that the two informants were also arrested for providing information about the students to the suspect.
According to PPRO, one of the suspects, Emmanuel Linus, was a fired soldier with a criminal record and a former criminal.
The suspect posed as an EFCC agent and attacked the student residence with an electric taser disguised as a gun, forcibly kidnapped the two men behind Toyota CorollaBlue green mobile phone.
The suspect initially demanded a ransom of Rs 10 million from the victim’s family, and later ransomed it to N500,000 before being arrested.
The quick response from agents from the Lapai department led to the pursuit of the suspect’s vehicle.
The chase ended near Suleja Road in Kwakuti, where three suspects were arrested while the fourth suspect managed to escape.
“The information received indicated that about four alleged fake EFCC operators saw about four fake EFCC operators outside the campus through Lapai and tied two students into Toyota Corolla vehicles,” the statement said.
“The police surgeons attached to Lapai div mobilized and dragged Kwakuti’s vehicle to Suleja Road, with alleged alleged; Emmanuel Linus, 30, Abuja, Hyelda aliyu 28yrs of nyanya of Nyanya, Abuja, Abuja and Abduljallid Tanko 333yrs 33yrs Karo, Abuja.
“The suspect was arrested by the above-mentioned vehicle and unfortunately, one of the suspects, Alfa James, escaped the scene.
“During the interrogation, they admitted that they were invited by informants because it was their means of livelihood. They entered one of the student rooms, which had three electrical tattoos as guns, collected five cell phones, and kidnapped two people.
“It was revealed that they demanded 10 million naira and later negotiated 500,000 naira before being arrested. They further acknowledged that the ID card used was designed in a store in Niana, Abuja, with the identification number of the store being 1069.
“These two informant collaborators were also arrested;
“The informant provided information about students to Emmanuel Linus, knowing each other in Paiko.
“All five suspects are conducting further investigations into SCID and will be prosecuted immediately after the investigation.”
