Ghanaian African Fusion Star Gyakie, born in Jackline Acheampong, releases her evocative new single Sankovamarking her first release of the year. The track is the lead single of her highly anticipated debut album After midnightwill decline later this year and have begun to attract listeners with its emotional depth. Known for breakthrough hits forever Starting from 2020 seed EP and her 2022 My Diary Gyakie’s partnership with Davido continues to grow, bringing Africa, R&B and Highlife into a globally resonant voice.

Sankovaco-written with longtime collaborator Eyram Gbewonyo (Afrolektra) is a affectionate national anthem derived from the symbol of Adinkra in Ghana, which means “go back and get back what has been lost”. The song explores the themes of reflection, reconnection and emotional honesty, providing a primitive and fragile glimpse into Gyakie’s inner world. The track draws on the narrative of healing and closedness with its deprived work and emotional transmission, with its rich vocals drawing on personal experiences of loneliness and sadness. Gyakie shared that the song reflects the late night tears moments and the mother’s tradition of midnight prayer, a ceremony that shapes the album’s introspective tone. Fans embraced its poignant vibe, and early reactions described it as a masterpiece that was perfect for the evening’s stillness.

This version is after the expected weeks, Gyakie teased Sankova On social media and talk about her voice evolution at the 2025 Forbes Summit. When Trail Blazers signed with RCA Records UK and Sony Music Africa, she was preparing to redefine African music with African music After midnightThis is a project inspired by the quiet, creative hours after midnight. Now available on streaming platforms Sankova Setting a strong tone for the album, the listener is invited to enter Gyakie’s in-depth personal journey with an upset and exciting voice.
