    • A police officer at ASP Thompson, Lagos, is investigating to share details of his bank account with the suspect.
    • The case involves a land dispute between Hon. Local government official Temitope Ogungbo and his brother Israel Balogun.
    • The dispute involves Ibeju Lekki’s family land.

A police officer in Lagos, identified as Assistant Chief of Police (ASP) Thompson, faces internal scrutiny after reportedly sharing details of his bank account with the suspect in the land dispute case investigated.

The case focused on the differences between Hon. Local government official Temitope Ogungbo serves as the education director of Ibeju Lekki, his brother Israel Balogun on family land.

According to Saharareporter, Ogungbo filed a complaint with the police, prompting ASP Thompson, affiliated to the Elemoro Police Division to convene Israel for inquiries.

However, Thompson allegedly broke out when he sent another message containing information about his personal bank account at an official invitation. Message read:

“That’s the invitation I sent him. Whatever his response is, I’ll forward it to you. This is my account number 2068831510, Thompson Zenith Bank.”

The information has attracted serious concern, indicating possible attempts to solicit bribes, which violates police conduct regulations.

Israel accused Ogungbo of plotting a violent attack on him in his account. He exerted a stab and needed to be hospitalized. He further claimed that Temitope issued a threat and claimed that it had an impact on both political and police authorities.

Despite a report to law enforcement, Israel said he was attacked again later that night. Now recovering, he is calling for public support and expressing concerns about further violence or police situations in the case.

As of now, police have not issued a formal statement on the alleged action by ASP Thompson or the broader case.
