Laboratories are of great importance, but first let us define the meaning of the laboratory before regaining its importance and interests. A laboratory, also known as a scientific laboratory, can be simply defined as a place or room where actual experiments are performed.
A place that is directly in contact with their learning materials to manipulate through the provided procedures that reflect scientific thinking.
It can also be defined as a building for scientific discovery and query purposes.
Science is complex and therefore requires experiments and results to be better understood.
According to history, the first lab was established in 18 labsTh Thomas Graham was built in the century in 1830 at the Royal Institute of Technology, provided that pioneer scientists provided the house for their scientific young people’s research purposes.
The importance of laboratories in science education
The science lab has a central role in the new science curriculum because it enables students to gain practical knowledge about the knowledge they teach in the classroom.
A unique purpose and importance of a laboratory is that science itself is an area of research based on activities and inquiries, which means that science is based on practicality and therefore requires a designated location commonly known as a laboratory where practice should be conducted.
Students should be allowed to discover and discover anything they have learned in the classroom through research so that they can better understand, sometimes present their unique results that may also contribute to the topic and appear to be important.
Meanwhile, science majors are always interested and enjoy practical work as it provides them with the opportunity to work together and learn from each other in groups and actually observe the results they learn in the classroom.
Science majors are often classified as “smart” populations because they are often evaluated based on their behavioral goals, including:
a) Cognition (knowledge)
b) Emotion (attitude) and
c) Psychological motor (skills)
Therefore, it is always expected that science majors write in the lab, focus and be very careful to achieve the desired outcome of the actual tasks they will do.
However, this also affects their daily lives, as most science majors often appear calm and calculating in the real world.

Meanwhile, science teachers also play an important role in the lab, as recent studies have shown that in most schools, once students know what to do in the lab, they are able to set up materials, perform experiments, and be able to record correct measurements and readings, and teachers will conduct good evaluations of students.
However, these emphasize only the knowledge and skills of the students mentioned above, while less emphasising attitudes, which leads to the neglect of the attitudes required by the laboratory.
For example, as a science teacher, you also need to evaluate the level of caution that students are dealing with equipment, do they need time to ensure the equipment used for the experiment, and have cleaned the lab tables used before leaving the lab, or are they just rushing to go out immediately after the practice is over?
The laboratory provides science majors with the opportunity to actually conduct research to improve their personal discoveries and produce results according to the instructions of their science teachers, thus helping to enhance their knowledge in this research field.
However, the findings that are always conducted in the lab offer many benefits and importance in today’s world, as most of our latest discoveries and equipment evolved from the results of a study conducted in the lab.
