    Ugu leaves, commonly known as grooves, are edible green vegetables and are mainly grown in most West African countries such as Nigeria.

    However, cooked pumpkin leaves are edible when boiled or cooked, as it still retains its minerals and vitamins. Grooved pumpkin (ugu leaves) can also be used as a salad substitute, but sliced ​​and added to the meal.

    Although the grooved pumpkin is known as UGU in Nigeria, there are other local names related to this edible green vegetables. Some of its local names are:

    (4) Ikong-Worth – Efik

    Grooved pumpkin is rich in essential minerals and important vitamins.

    It is highly abundant in calcium, iron, potassium and manganese and also provides a large amount of vitamins C, A, B2 and E.

    Ugu leaves (grooved pumpkin) are an important source of dietary fiber, making pumpkin leaves a natural alternative to maintaining digestive system health.
