    • Aliyu Audu has resigned as senior special assistant to President Bola Tinubu, President for Public Affairs.
    • His resignation has raised concerns about rising rebellion among all the Progress Conference (APC) politicians.
    • Odu warned that this trend could lead to Nigeria becoming a one-party state.

Aliyu Audu, senior special assistant to President Bola Tinubu, has resigned and expressed serious concerns about the growing defection of all politicians at the Progressive Conference (APC). He warned that Nigeria could become a one-party state.

Audu made his resignation on Sunday, June 8 through Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. He said the decision came into effect immediately.

In his resignation letter, Odu expressed concerns about the growing number of governors, judiciary and opposition leaders moving past the ruling party.

“Although I am not aligned with the PDP, I refuse to use it directly or indirectly as a tool to reduce Nigeria to a partisan state. This would be a betrayal of God’s grace and democratic principles,” he wrote.

After his resignation, Odu issued another statement clarifying that his decision was driven by principles rather than rebellion. He stressed his commitment to democratic ideals.

“Leaders owe God to protect values and justice within the system. Despite my resignation, I will continue to support the government’s power to work towards a better Nigeria.” He said.

He also targeted the alliance between President Tinubu and the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, saying it was a contradiction with progressive values.

“We differ in our political perspectives because I pride myself on being a progressive democratic values and promoter, which seems to be lost in the evil alliance between PBAT and Wike.” The organization said.

Although no longer part of the government, Odu said he was still politically speaking and active, ending his remarks with a humorous attitude:

“That doesn’t mean our GBAS GBO will catch O. We’re still here to attack and fight back. Oyaagbadorians, greet you.”
