

Bernardo Silva was appointed as the new captain of Manchester City Football Club before the 2025/26 season.
Bernardo Silva will begin as Manchester City captain at the FIFA Club World Cup, which is hosted in the United States of America. Manchester City will begin bidding for Wydad in Lincoln Finance on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
The 30-year-old was asked about his future at Manchester City before his pre-match press conference against Wydad.
He said
“I know what I’m going to do, but it’s not the time to talk about this season. I’m very focused on doing well for the human city. I’ll talk about it at the time. I have a one-year contract. I’m obviously able to leave next season. I’ll stay this season. I’ll definitely stay.
The Portuguese International is now entering Etihad’s ninth season and after receiving the captain’s armband.
Silva’s decision to be the captain of Manchester City after Kevin de Bruyne quit at the end of last season. The Belgian has joined Serie A champion Naples, reaching a two-year contract that will allow him to stay in Italy until at least 2027.
