As the world commemorates World Sick Cell Day on June 19, Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold (commonly known as AG Baby) has launched a new health care program under its Adekunle Gold Foundation (AGF), titled 5 Star Care.
Sickle cell disease is a genetic disease that changes the shape of red blood cells, resulting in restricted blood flow, chronic pain, fatigue and various health challenges.
Adekunle Gold himself is a survivor of the condition, and his personal battle with sickle cell anemia has been vocalizing.
With 5-star care, the singer aims to provide free, comprehensive health insurance for 1,000 people with sickle cells. The program aims to cover routine examinations, emergency care and long-term medical support, helps reduce the financial burden and improves access to basic health care for those affected.
