Hybrid Marketing – Experts have developed the concept of marketing mix to solve the above problems, but depending on how you conceptualize marketing, its time extends from 4 ps to up to 12 ps.
I will focus on 4 most relevant B2B-related factors today: price, product, promotion, location, people.
Technically, businesses have been using marketing strategies to promote and sell their products, but the term “hybrid marketing” was not first used until the mid-20th century.
Neil Bordon, a Harvard professor and marketing expert, first used it in a 1953 speech to the American Marketing Association to describe how marketers create and execute successful marketing plans.
A company is able to make profitable marketing decisions at all levels by identifying and organizing components of its marketing portfolio. These options benefit from the business:
- Enhance its advantages and minimize its disadvantages
- Improve the level of competition and adaptability in the market
- Promote effective communication between partners and departments
Since the 1950s, the components of the marketing portfolio have changed a lot, thanks to new technologies and other adjustments to industry best practices.

What is the 4p of hybrid marketing?
Since the 1960s, prices, products, promotions and locations have been known as the four PS of hybrid marketing.
price
Price of purchase. Pricing can affect the value of what customers think is worth something, which can greatly change your marketing plan.
When the consumer’s price is lower, the product will be used more widely, but seeking consumer exclusivity is attracted to higher-priced products.
In either case, in order for your company to cash in on profits, the price must be higher than the production cost.
product
To solve any problem once the product is in the hands of the customer, marketers must take into account the product’s life cycle.
For example, Apple must come up with solutions to battery life problems that will only become obvious after using the first-generation iPod.
Promotion
Direct marketing, promotions and advertising. Promotions can take many different forms, including TV advertising, internet advertising, catalogues, trade shows, billboards, and even advertising for taxi taxis.
Public relations are also included in the group, such as news releases or ongoing media relations.
The content conveyed, who to whom to be communicated, how to reach the audience, and the frequency of promotions are included in the promotion.
place
Customers can access any area where products are used, accessed or purchased. This covers franchisees, warehouses, distribution centers, inventory management and transportation.

How to determine your marketing portfolio
Any business must first choose its marketing portfolio to generate early sales and create customers.
Your target consumer must be identified as the initial stage of this process.
If you know clearly who they are, you may begin to understand the relationship between the client and the company.
- What problems are your ideal customer experiencing?
- What prevents the possibility of finding a solution to the problem?
- How does your solution meet the needs?
- What do your competitor customers think of you? What about you?
- What drives your prospects to make purchases?
Next, determine the funds you use for your marketing campaigns and sales and growth goals.
Then, identify a marketing strategy that allows you to connect with your target market and achieve your goals.
For example, if you need 25 prospects to sell one product and your goal this month is to sell 1,000 products, you need 25,000 fresh leads.
You know, the ideal consumer will read and trust two different websites, one with 25,000 visitors a month and the other with one million websites.
Even if advertising on a website with only 25,000 monthly visitors is much cheaper, it is impossible for all 25,000 visitors to become new leads.
So, even if it costs more, your advertising budget will be spent on the site with one million visitors per month.
Since 4PS of marketing was originally established in the 1960s, the marketing environment has undergone a major transition.
Since then, Boom and Bitner have added three more components to their marketing mix: people, processes and tangible evidence.
When we get stuck in meta-analysis, there will undoubtedly be other PS introductions.
You still need to understand how to keep your product in the hands of your customers, whether you run a small or global company, engaged in direct marketing, personal sales or other promotions.
Your marketing plans and sales activities must be tailored to the target market to achieve this.
