Fraud? Prophet fufeyin can be slammed on the controversial first fruit teaching

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) strongly criticized the prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, the founder of the Saving Ministry of Christ Mercyland, for preaching that providing the “first fruit” that “enjoy first” can eliminate sin, even if it is committed through fraud.

The controversy stems from a preaching delivered by a pastor from Delta in January 2022, which has recently become popular again after being re-paved online. In the video, the prophet Fufeyin urges his congregation to bring the first income of the year to the church. He claimed that doing so would bring about divine blessings, break spiritual rules, and even eliminate sin.

    > “Your first income, let it suffer, try God. Not to say there is no blessing in the year, but the first fruit you carry – once you give it to the Lord – violates the agreement. Even if your sins are cancelled,” he declared in his sermon.

However, canned food does not have it.

In a firm response, Christian institutions described Fofeyin’s message as “heretic” and warned Nigerians to pay attention to spiritual leaders who promoted misleading doctrines. According to which, no sacrifice can eliminate sin, especially those dishonest means obtained by fraud. The salvation and forgiveness emphasized by the association only comes with true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ rather than through financial dedication.

“God will not share the spoils with the liar,” one can make it clear, highlighting the dangers that promote money, especially money obtained through corruption, can be forgiven.

Many Nigerians join Backlash Online, shouting out the dangers of such doctrine, especially as economic hardship and fraudulent activity are on the rise.

This incident has once again sparked debate on the abuse of religious platforms and on trends based on prosperity messages in some Nigerian churches.

As the dialogue continues, believers can be urged to take root in the attitude of biblical truth and be wary of spiritual manipulation in the name of devotion.
