
The federal government has suspended two personnel from the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCO) in an attempt to purchase international passports for prisoners. The suspension was announced in a statement by the public relations officer of the Nigerian Correctional Institution in NCO, Umar Abubakar. Correction Vice President Abubakar described the incident as “misconduct detected through automatic passport application and other overall reforms within the Nigerian Immigration Bureau”. He also said that the discovery of misconduct was a result of inter-agency cooperation in the Ministry of the Interior.
Abubakar explained that the incident happened two weeks ago, adding that it was a contradiction between established rules and procedures and therefore became unacceptable and unacceptable.
