UNN Mass Communications Department denies that students were dishonest about their relationship status after an outing with YouTuber Asherkine.
After content creators viewed Becky as an expensive shopping spree, a photo surfaced online showing her a man allegedly her boyfriend.
The department sees the image as misleading and urges the public to avoid spreading false narratives and misinformation.
“Our attention has caused a series of virus columns circulating on Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Facebook. The posts falsely claim that our student Ifeme Rebecca Yahoma (Becky) denied denying her boyfriend due to a recent visit to celebrity Asherkine.”
“We want to make it clear that these claims are totally false, defamatory and malicious.”
“After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that the virus photos were photographed and circulated extensively by some Mr. Kenny, who mistakenly claimed to be her boyfriend. His behavior was an attempt to undermine her image, which amounted to slander and character assassination.”
“As a department that upholds truth, integrity and personal dignity, we find this behavior unacceptable and condemns it with the strongest attitude.
“Baykee remains a respected and respected member of our department and we won’t stand her reputation when it comes to false attacks.”
“We urge the public, especially students and social media users, to ignore these misleading claims and avoid sharing any content that promotes such fake stories. Continuing to spread such defamatory material may have legal consequences for those involved.”
“Let us unite against cyberbullying, slandering and abuse of social media to spread harmful lies.”
