Tips and warnings
Lavender is used in recipes to round the strong smell of tea tree oil. If you are not a fan of lavender, choose other antibacterial oils such as rosemary, sage, sandalwood or mint. (Where to buy 100% pure essential oil)
Always be careful when handling essential oils. They are very concentrated, powerful plant extracts. If you are not familiar with using essential oils, you may need to test for allergic reactions forward Apply in this homemade hand sanitizer.
Like any natural plant, family members may be allergic to them. For a simple patch test, mix a drop of essential oil with about 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Rub a little inside the elbow, cover it with a bandage, and wait for 24 hours to see if there is a negative reaction.
Note: If you are reading a recent report on how unhealthy it is to use a handmade sterilizer, remember that there are dangers in the chemicals used in commercial sterilizers. This homemade hand sanitizer recipe uses no these harmful chemicals and relies on pure essential oils to kill bacteria.
One of the unique qualities of essential oils is that they do not cause bacterial resistance like antibacterial chemicals and are actually effective in killing bacterial strains that are already resistant to our artificial drugs and chemicals. (source)
Sometimes it is best to get our bodies into bacteria and strengthen our immune system, but sometimes manual disinfectants can be used for emergencies. (Think dirty port hybrids or kids next to kids.
