People’s Democratic presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in 2023 election has resigned
Atiku resigned in the 2027 general election after acknowledging that the Coalition Party of the Democratic Congress was formed.
The resignation was conveyed in a letter on Monday, July 14, 2025 to Chairman of Jada 1 Ward, Jada Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
A copy of the letter was shared by a special media assistant to the former vice president on Wednesday.
Letter reading “I wrote to officially resign from the People’s Democratic Party
(PDP) takes effect immediately.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the opportunity given by the Party.
“Appointing two full terms as Vice President of Nigeria and twice as presidential candidates is one of the most important chapters of my life.
“It’s really heartbreaking to make this decision as the founding father of this respected party.
“But, because of the current trajectory that Larty takes, I think it is necessary to separate ways, which I think is different from the basic principles we represent. I resigned was a heavy heart, recognizing that there was an irreconcilable difference.
“I hope the party and its leadership will go well in the future. Thank you again for your opportunity and support.”
