Abuja’s chief district court ordered remands on Friday by Ghali Isma’il, a social media influencer at the Keffi Correctional Centre, allegedly spreading false information about President Bola Tinubu’s health. Isma’il, 29, was arraigned on two charges involving false news and inciting dissatisfaction with the government.

The second charge is “inciting dissatisfaction with the government”, which read in part: “…intention to bring contempt or incite dissatisfaction with the president. Therefore, you thus commit a punitive offence under Article 416 of the Criminal Law, Cap P3, Federation of Nigeria Law, 2004.”, 2004. ”
After hearing a debate between prosecutors and defense attorneys, presiding judge Ekpeyong Iyang denied the defendant’s bail application and ordered his remand at the Keffi Correctional Center. The case was adjourned until August 19, 2025.
