    • Emma Ugolee is frustrated with the casting practices of Nollywood.
    • He criticized the trend of selecting actors based on social media rather than acting skills.
    • Ugole believes that this approach undermines the true nature of action.

Media figure Emma Ugolee expressed frustration at a self-evident but widely practiced trend for Nollywood actors based on social media rather than performing talent.

In a detailed Instagram post on Wednesday, August 6, Ugolee criticized the system, saying it undermined the nature of real behavior.

He cites examples of two lead actors from the Trend Kill Monkey series, namely Bucci Franklin and William Chinoyenem, whose followers totaled less than 380,000. Despite their outstanding skills and professionalism, they have gained limited recognition due to the lack of a large online presence.

Ugolee explains that these participants prefer privacy over online drama and avoid engaging in contentious or sensational quality, which ironically are their popularity in today’s follower-driven industry.

To illustrate this contrast, he mentioned the internet sensation Egungun, who has over 2 million followers due to his street interviews, often including content that is provocative or sexually charged. Ugolee clarified that while Egungun’s success was effective in his space, it highlights Nollywood’s shallow expectations for serious actors now.

    Ugolee wrote:

    * “Did you know there is currently an uncultural Nollywood rule that should be dead because it sucks?

The actors have always taken on social media as this is crucial to successfully promoting the film.

I’m trying to capture all errors with the image above.

In the first two slides, you may notice that the collective followers from the two main cast members of the Trend Kill Monkey series are nearly 380k.

They are certified by both male and female fans and their craft is exceptionally excellent, with gifts and training behaviors. True professionals.

Ironically digital reflections are due to bad public scandals, entertainment of their real lives and public interactions at the expense of privacy.

They need to be frivolous, overly social, dare to be naked, have colleagues, controversial, materialistic and participate in other dramas that are not related to performance.

The third slide is an internet sensation, and he embodies what he needs on these streets, and all he needs is a microphone.

A microphone is on the street asking people what they wear or the cost of driving when they encounter them.

With the ladies, his trademark requires them to show that their breasts and ass cheeks can be swayed, revealing their favorite sexual positions, repeating his voice, and then replaying the sounds they make in the bedroom.

To do this, he has a loyal 2 million followers and counts.

It’s by no means to make fun of his work, but to show you the way Nollywood engagement requires, using these professional actors as tickets to the show.

This is unfair to the actors. Believe it or not, actually some actors just want to act without being popular. Stop putting pressure on them to meet your public concern conditions.

They may have everything that kills characters and impress thoughtful people every day in large groups.

Shout to directors who ignore this rule when casting. ”*

Ugolee urged filmmakers to prioritize real talent over social media figures, stressing that some actors just want to act without being forced to compete in online pop competitions.
