In other news…. Unilag has trained another outstanding scholar for Samuel Badekale, the 2023/2024 overall best graduate, who received the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Mundus Masters in the Bio-Membranes scholarship.
Badekale has a perfect 5.00 CGPA in cell biology and genetics and is the only competitive program to be granted by Nigerians and West Africa to the European Union funding.
The scholarship will allow him to study for two years at three leading universities in France, the University of Genoa in Italy and the University of Osnabrook in Germany. His plans will cover fields including membrane biology, neuroscience and experimental medicine.
Samuel shares news on the handle of his official X (formerly Twitter), describing scholarships as dream come true:
“2025 is amazing in every way! It’s great to announce the next step in my journey: the only Nigerian and West Africans who were selected as the Biofilm Master of Erasmus Mundus Mundus, studying in three world-class universities in France, Italy and Germany.”
Reflecting on his background, he added:
“When I looked back, I saw a little boy from Mushin had a big dream: to explore the world and make a positive impact. Today, with God’s loyalty, this dream gradually became a reality.”
He also urged students to pursue excellence through education:
“To my young self and every student: Trust God. Hold on to your education. Get the best and strive for excellence, because education is still one of the most powerful keys to moving from the local community to the global stage. Education is not a scam. It is a weapon. Use it. Use it.”
