- A young screenwriter accuses Nigerian artist Davido of using her intellectual property on social media platforms without credit
- The screenwriter claims she has contacted Davido’s team several times to learn about her creative vision for the “10 KILO” music video, one of his 5 albums.
- The controversy has triggered a major reaction from Nigerian social media users.

A young screenwriter publicly accused Davido on Elon Musk’s platform, and Nigerian social media users were shocked.
In a series of posts, the author explained that she emailed Davido’s team several times to share her creative vision for a “10kg” music video, a track from his 5ive album, which recently released visuals.
She revealed that she has sent daily emails eager to contribute her ideas and help her bring the concept of the video to life.
After receiving no response, she finally backed down, assuming her script wasn’t strong enough. But when the video premiered shortly after Davido’s wedding, she noticed a stunning similarity.
Many of her original scripts, including key themes and concepts, have been incorporated into the music video despite minor revisions, according to her post.
In her words:
“I wrote a script for @Davido’s 10Kilo sometime in April and threw it to Davido and his team in May. I send emails almost every other day because if they decide to make a video for the song, I’m determined to be part of the project.”
“The last time I reached out was on May 21, but I never got any feedback. I just told myself that the script might not be good enough, or maybe they didn’t like it at all. So I stopped sending these emails. I even posted a post about the script on X.”
“That’s why when the video directed by @diretoctorpink_ dropped this month, that’s why I saw a big part of my script: the core theme and ideas, right in the video (although there are some tweaks).”

@hybrid_ola: “Did you even contact Davido to express your dissatisfaction or attention? Maybe the concept you are thinking about, the director thought of something, which is why he didn’t come back to you. Maybe! But either way, I’m really sorry you feel that way.”
@mayorfreshh: “Even if you checked yourself, what might have you done wrong? Other than that, is there no written agreement before this or is it that he pressed your neck to do it 😂😂😂😂😂😂 This won’t solve any IMO.”
@hentechnologue: “What I just realized is; the idea you are cooking, you think is better Another person has this idea, even better, and it’s important to execute, some people will release or take a lower budget, then appear in the original video and use it to snap up your stuff and prove their abilities to the world, and hope you are in the next shaa, I hope you are in the next shaa and luck the lucky thaim unl Implip…ways unl uck pull full stup full stup full stup…
@hardman_001: “So, you have so little wisdom that you share details without waiting for approval or agreement?”
@gabriellaw40232: “Your thoughts are crazy crazy. I’m sure no one else will have a reason to use plus size women for this video. I believe TG Omori, he won’t agree to steal your thoughts, only enough beard packing men to dance “Orobo 10kg”.
@symply_keerahh: “Next time, don’t send them your work. First contact them to see if they’d like to see what you have.”
@TrendingTrendsz: “It could actually be a coincidence. It doesn’t necessarily mean they used your idea. Sometimes two people can sit together and suddenly start singing the same song at the same time. If that can happen, what’s your chance?”
@queenofdblues1: “Chinese God! omoh!
