Daniel Bwala, a special counsel for policy communication, defended the Lagos state’s federal projects in a concentrated manner, calling the state “unmanned land” and the economic pride of Nigeria.
Speaking on Wednesday, September 3, Bouwara believed that the value of federal projects reportedly allocated to Lagos State within two years should not be considered as a preference, but rather as a strategic investment in U.S. commercial hubs.
“Let me tell you why Lagos is different. Lagos is an unmanned land. In the last election, the president from the Southwest did not win Lagos. It tells you the international nature of Lagos.”
Bwala highlights the diversified economic foundations of Lagos and points out that it has become a home for people from all over the country.
“The richest man in Africa is a northerner. His business is not in Kano, it is in Lagos. Almost every rich man who knows in Nigeria has a business in Lagos, and the people of Nigeria are represented in Lagos.”
He added: “If it weren’t for most people who were Yoruba people, then you would be wondering if Lagos is indeed from the Southwest.”
Bwala has similar paintings to global cities such as New York and London, and believes that the resource set of commercial centers is a common phenomenon worldwide.
“London has more investments than in the entire state of England. New York has more infrastructure and investments than other parts of the United States, including California. Paris has more investments.
He said: “So, in every country, wherever you find the business nerves of that country, you may see the need to put infrastructure in place to boost the economy.
He insisted that Lagos remained the heartbeat of Nigeria’s commercial and infrastructure development, which translated into national growth.
“So, you put your idea of putting you in Lagos in the right environment than other states or federals should be placed. Lagos is unmanned land. Lagos is the hub of Nigeria. Lagos is the pride of the country.”
