A lawyer named Mark Zuckerberg sued Facebook after social networks repeatedly deleted his page, claiming he was imitating the company’s boss. Mark Stephen Zuckerberg, a bankruptcy attorney in Indiana, said he spent thousands of dollars to promote his service on Facebook, but the website repeatedly banned his page.
Mr. Zuckerberg said his life was turned upside down because he shared a name with the world’s wealthiest men.
He said he has been receiving DE@thew and has to endure constant technical support calls.
“It’s not interesting,” he told local news channel WTHR. “Not when they take my money.”
He said his name was Mark Zuckerberg’s “longer than him” and sued after years of unfair deletion of his account.
He said he spent more than $11,000 (£8,000) on Facebook ads to promote his legal practice, but his business and personal pages have been repeatedly deleted for “imitating celebrities.”
Zuckerberg said it usually takes several months to restore his account, resulting in business losses, and the company broke the “fair deal” law.
“I would rather not fight with them, but I don’t know how to get them to stop,” he said. “I don’t know how to get their attention.”
Mr. Zuckerberg has a website where he wrote about cases of shared names that affected his life.
This includes being sued by Washington State for identity errors, turning off cell phones at night due to torrents of notifications, receiving more than 100 friend requests per day, and having to use pseudonyms when booking restaurants, otherwise assume it is a prank.
In one case, a limousine driver holding a sign in Las Vegas’ name is surrounded by fans eager to wait for the dollar billionaire.
Mr. Zuckerberg worked in law for 38 years when Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was three years old.
Meta responded: “We know there is more than one Mark Zuckerberg in the world and we are getting stuck in it.”
Mr. Zuckerberg said he would be satisfied if the dollar billionaire gave him a week on the superyacht.
“[If he] Let me spend a week on his boat and say I’m sorry I might get him this. ” he said.
He is seeking damages and attorney fees.
