Labour Party (LP) accuses all the Progressive Assembly (APC) of rulings to infiltrate and seize control of its internal structure before the upcoming Congress.
According to the party’s interim propaganda minister, Tony Akeni, intelligence gathered across the country suggests that the APC is allegedly deploying loyalists into the LP to compromise on its wards, local governments, states, districts and national congresses.
“We have discovered sinister actions from APC to penetrate our political parties at all levels to derail our Congress.” Akenny told Pioneer.
He further claimed that if this infiltration fails, the APC still intends to force itself into the leadership of the LP and continue on the agenda, which, according to him, began when the ruling party attempted to use the party’s former president, Julius Abure, to cause distraction.
Akeni also questioned the impartiality of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), accusing it of liking the APC. He cited alleged violations during the proximity campaign in 16 states and marked the ongoing voter registration process as another area of concern.
“Our country cannot recover to fictional names like American boxer Mike Tyson, late pop stars Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, appearing on the voter’s register,” he said. He warned that Nigerians were urged to remain vigilant.
The spokesman further expressed concern about the future credibility of the current chairman of the committee after the end of later this year.
“We just hope that anyone who inherits the current INEC chairman after the expiration in November or December will not erode the trust Nigerians still have during the election process,” he said. He added.
