The National Food and Drug Administration Agency (NAFDAC) intercepted 277 cartons of forged and unregistered Malaria drugs worth more than 1.2 billion in Ilasa-Oshodi, Lagos State.
According to the agency, fake products were smuggled into the country from the Shanxi Tianyuan Pharmaceuticals Group in China and hidden in cartons marked with diclofenac potassium 50mg. They were also wrongly declared as spare parts in shipping documents.
Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General of NAFDAC, stressed the agency’s determination – the basis of the President and the Federal Ministry of Health to expel Nigeria to enjoy fake and unqualified drugs.
She noted that epilepsy seizures constitute the ongoing national repression by NAFDAC to protect public health and ensure safe only, high-quality medicines available to Nigerians.
