For nearly three decades, Akan’s wife Tomeka Thiam decided to resign. According to court documents, Tomeka said she married the singer in September 1996, but is currently using irreconcilable differences as an example to insert marriage into marriage.
TMZ said the couple shared a 17-year-old child, Tomeka asked the court for joint custody while requesting physical custody. She is also seeking spouse support, but is also asking the court to prevent Akon from getting any spouse support in person.
Akon has been vague about how ‘wife’ he has been, but Tomeka has officially made his position clear through this document.
So far, Akan has not publicly responded to divorce news.
