President Bola Tinubu announced that the six-month state of emergency imposed in Rivers state ended, announcing that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy NMA NMA ODU and members of the State Capitol will return to the office on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Tinubu said in a statement issued by the president on Wednesday that the state of emergency was first announced on March 18, 2025 that the “all governance paralysis” of the then-worshiped river must be arrested.
“So I am happy to announce that the emergency situation in Nigerian rivers will end from midnight today.
“Governor, Lieutenant Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Lieutenant Governor, Her Excellency of NMA ODU, and Member and Speaker of Rivers State Capitol Martins Amaewhule, will continue to work in his office starting September 18, 2025,” he said.
