South African hip-hop star David Junior Ngcobo (known as the nasty C) said he is considering adopting a new stage name.
The rapper of “Africa’s coolest kid” said in an interview with Mrs. Joyce in London that “Hate C” was never about showing anything. According to him, the nickname is just a random combination of letters.
Ngcobo further acknowledged that the long-term story about the first producer calling him a “hate cat” was said to have inspired his current name. He added that he invented the story just to give the name a backstory.
Mrs. Joyce asked: “Where does the annoying name C come from?”
Annoying C: “It’s random. It just puts a bunch of letters together and I start using it to make words and then I choose one. I don’t know [about the meaning of the name or what it stands for]I have no idea.
“I used to have a story telling people. The first person who recorded me was very close to my big brother. He was in a meeting and I should go to the next one, and he was telling him the guy he just recorded, for example, ‘Yo, it’s a kid Blablabal. He was really excited. He was really annoying. Then, I put “At ot ot of cat Out cat to form “Hate C.”
“But it’s a lie. I just want to have a story and I want to mention that guy’s name because he really did help me get started with my career. My stage name is just the atmosphere. I want to change it now.”
