- Peter Obi condemned $600 million for sending the wives of 21 Adamawa LGA chairmen to Turkey for “leadership training”, saying it was an abuse of public funds that could support education or women’s businesses.

Peter Obi condemned the reported 21 trips to Türkiye for “leadership training” by the wife of the president of Adamawa LGA, calling it a waste of public funds.
He criticized the estimated 600 million spending, indicating that it could be used for education or for women-led businesses.
Obi wrote: “I just read an unsettling report that the wives of 21 local government chairmen in Adamawa State were sponsored by public funds and traveled to Türkiye under the guise of leadership training.
Today, while our children at basic education levels (whose education is the responsibility of local governments) drop out, while children in schools lack classrooms and teachers, and LGA pensioners may owe money, and teachers continue to struggle with financial difficulties, it is frustrating that scarce resources involve competitors within the scope of such foreign public governments, who don’t pay for the competition in a million, which is the money for a family, which is the money for a family, which is the money for a family, which is the money for a family, which is the money for a family, which is the money for a family;
“Although I sincerely commend Governor Fitiri and his team’s efforts, especially in Yula’s infrastructure sector, Adamawa still needs one of the states that urgently need to invest in, such as key sectors such as education, health care and poverty. If women affect women on average, women’s women will have an impact of 50 million. For various LGAs, about 300 women in each LGA are authorized, rather than such wasteful spending.
“Essential education, in particular, cannot afford such a huge loss because the associated billion naira could have funded about 30 blocks of six classrooms, with an average retail price of ₦20 million each, directly affecting the lives of countless children and communities.
“We must return to prudent, people-oriented governance. Local government funds belong to the people, market women, farmers, teachers, pensioners and every ordinary Nigerian who relies on the government for basic convenience. Everything abuses the office and should not be tolerated.
