Nigeria Premier League fines Kano Pillars N9.5 million over violent attack on Meteor

The Nigeria Football Premier League has imposed severe sanctions on Kano Pillars following violent scenes during their Round 8 home match against Meteors on Sunday, October 12, at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. Chaos erupted at the Sani Abacha Stadium after Kano Pillars fans invaded the pitch and attacked match officials, players and Meteor Sports Club staff after a dramatic late equalizer.

The game, which ended 1-1, descended into violent scenes shortly after the final whistle. Kano Pillars took the lead in the ninth minute through Mustafa Giblin and the home fans seemed ready to celebrate the victory, but the cheers turned into chaos when Adams Mustafa’s meteor equalized in stoppage time.
