Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, better known by his stage name Odumodublvck, has shared details of a horrific near-death experience he endured during tonsil surgery.
The hip-hop star revealed that the medical procedure took place during the release of his chart-topping single “Declan Rice.”
According to reports, what was supposed to be a routine 30-minute tonsillectomy surgery turned into a life-threatening emergency that lasted about five hours due to unforeseen complications.
Odumoduluke recalled that his survival was largely due to the timely intervention of another doctor, who happened to be at the hospital at the time and quickly stepped in to help.
Following his ordeal, the rapper admitted he was overwhelmed with fear and anxiety and was convinced he might not make it through. He also revealed that he confided his fears to his 71-year-old mother before eventually recovering from the traumatic experience.
He said in a viral video: “It was crazy because I thought I was going to die. It was crazy. When I fell on Declan Rice, I had surgery. I had my tonsils taken out. I didn’t have tonsils, and when I first had surgery, it was the first time I’ve ever said that on camera.
“The 20- to 30-minute operation took five hours. The person who performed the operation said that he had never asked for help in the 12 years he had been doing the operation. But that day, he asked for help, and the person he asked for was an hour away from him.”
“But when he called that day, the gas station was only two minutes away. He just came in and even the hospital didn’t know he was coming in. He came and went like an angel. After the surgery was done, I thought I was really going to die. I told my mom I wasn’t going to make it.”
